Mahogany Bay 
Mahogany Bay is the Carnival Cruise Ship port on Roatan. It is located east of mid-island where each year, hundreds of thousands of people get their first look at Roatan. Some people use the cruise ship as a means to visit possible Caribbean retirement destinations for themselves. It makes sense to get off the cruise ship and get a snapshot of island living.

If you find yourself landing on Mahogany Bay, you can go either direction (east or west) and find a RE/MAX Office. You can travel east about 2-3 miles to Mt. Pleasant where our main office is in Jackson Plaza or if you find yourself on an excursion to West End or West Bay, we have a second office in West Bay Mall. 
We always advise communicating with an Agent for a month or two before your arrival if you want to look at property. Punta Blanca 
A couple of Newsletters ago, I mentioned that there were some small ex-pat communities that tend to fly under the radar. Then I covered a development called Bodden Bight. This month, I asked Buyers Agent, Alex Poirier to share about Punta Blanca.

Here’s Alex: 
Punta Blanca is a tight knit ex-pat community with about 15 homes ranging from very high end to more modest homes providing a nice diversity. Many of the “Gringo” residents communicate with each other on VHF radio in addition to our “coconut telegraph”, Facebook. Neighborhood house parties. snorkeling and diving trips are commonplace. Many of the homes and lots face into the prevailing winds and help keep the homes cool. The voluntary Home Owner’s Association provides potable well water to the homes and maintains the road for only $600/year for both services.

A community marina with a boat launching ramp provides a protected area to keep a small boat at no charge. Many restaurants and resorts are an easy boat ride away. And, of course, our magnificent coral reef is always close by.

Punta Blanca is located about 10 miles east of the best shopping on the island, French Harbour. Our beautiful 18-hole championship golf course, multiple banks, grocery store, Ace Hardware, and excellent restaurants are all available there. Our new state-of-the-art hospital is in French Harbour, it even accepts US insurance. In addition, the GARM clinic does regenerative medical care, often using stem cells at a reasonable cost.

You may not be able to score a T-shirt at 11 in the evening, or listen to tourists partying down until late, but if you are looking for a neighborhood with a nice community feel, Punta Blanca is hard to beat.

Voted One of the World’s Best Beaches, again!
